#FirstDraftProbs

Have you ever written something and felt the overwhelming urge to scrap all of it and rewrite it?

...oh um me neither.

So, here's the thing

I am in the midst of writing the twenty-sixth chapter of The Wyvern's Tale and am fighting the ridiculous urge to rewrite ALL of it. Here's the thing, I usually don't realize a book is shit until I finish it & don't want to rewrite it until I'm done. But as I get better at writing, that becomes harder and harder to do. ID I literally had to push myself to finish and I all but abandoned Circuited (except I keep having epiphanies for the rewrite).

I don't understand how some writers can have coherent first drafts. I mean if you've read anythiing I wrote,  actually think about it for a second. Like there is so much wrong with it.

For me the solution always ends up being rewriting.

I am impressed with people who can literally just transition into editing or only need to rewrite a couple chapters.

I'm talking changing plots, names, deleting characters like First Drafts for me are literally like when you try painting for the first time and end up with blobs (i'm jealous of you don't end up with blobs).

Literally I'm such a mess and my writing reflects it so fuck you if your first draft is even half decent. Fuck you if you don't need to rewrite. I literally can't even finish a fucking a book because I want to rewrite the whole plot so badly. (Keep in mind that I've already rewritten WT and changed the plot once).

Am I the only one who has real first draft problems? Like needs to either never see sunlight again or you have the urge to put it through the shredder??

Please tell me I'm not the only one.
